How the money works
Some links on this site use our affiliate code. When you click through and buy, the retailer pays us between 2% and 8% of the sale price. The price is the same with or without our tag.
Some brands we recommend (small manufacturers, direct-to-consumer producers) don't run affiliate programs. We link to them anyway. Our methodology is not weighted by commission rate.
Sponsored content, if it ever happens
We are open to sponsored newsletters, sponsored deep-dives, or paid features, but only for products that already meet the methodology on their own. A sponsorship buys visibility for a recommendation we stand behind, not the recommendation itself.
Anything sponsored will be labeled clearly at the top of the piece, with the relationship disclosed in plain language. If we haven't earned the right to recommend a product on the merits, no amount of sponsorship money will get it on the site.
Where the revenue goes
Affiliate revenue (and any future sponsorship revenue) funds the audit engine, the writing, lab-report subscriptions, and the products we buy to test. There are no outside investors and no traditional ad sales.
